Rav Yosef Shalit ben Eliezer Riqueti (Richetti), known in English sources as Joseph Shalit Riqueti, was an Italian chacham of the second half of the seventeenth century. Born in Tzfat, he settled in Verona, where he stood at the head of a yeshiva for the learning of Gemara. He wrote Chochmat HaMishkan, also called Iggeret Melechet HaMishkan, printed in Mantua in 5436/1676, on the building of the First Beit HaMikdash, and he published a map of Eretz Yisrael, which Zunz supposed had been drawn to illustrate a Haggadah shel Pesach.
He also brought other men’s works to press. In Venice in 5406/1646 he edited Chibbur Maasiyot, a collection of tales of mussar, and in Mantua in 5436/1676 he issued Rav Gershon ben Asher’s Yichus HaTzaddikim with notes of his own. He may be the earliest author to mention a work called the Midrash HaGadol, though it is not clear whether he meant the Yemenite midrash known by that name today.
Joseph Shalit ben Eliezer Riqueti (Richetti) was a Jewish-Italian scholar born at Safed, and who lived in the second half of the 17th century at Verona, where he directed a Talmudic school. He was the author of Ḥokmat ha-Mishkan or Iggeret Meleket ha-Mishkan (Mantua, 1676), on the construction of the First Temple. He also published a map of Palestine which Zunz supposes to have been prepared as one of the illustrations of a Passover Haggadah.
