The Akeidat Yitzchak is the derashot of Rabbi Yitzchak Arama (c. 1420–1494), a rav in Spain in the generation of the Expulsion, who is called the Baal HaAkeidah after it. Its 105 shaarim follow the Chumash parsha by parsha. Each shaar opens with a pasuk and a maamar of Chazal and has two parts: the derishah, which takes up a question of emunah or middot that the parsha raises and works through it at length, and the perishah, which then goes through the pesukim of the parsha in its light. It is learned by those who look for the question behind the parsha and by those preparing a derasha on it.
