The Shulchan Aruch of Rabbi Yosef Karo (Mechaber) is the code of halacha the Jewish world lives by: four chelakim — Orach Chayim, Yoreh De’ah, Even HaEzer and Choshen Mishpat — following the order of the Tur, with the Rema’s hagahot recording the Ashkenazi practice on the same page.
The Mechaber of the Shulchan Aruch, also wrote a peirush in the Tur, The Beit Yosef, which often forecasts how the halacha will be presented in the Shulchan Aruch. There are many commentaries, with the main ones referred to as "Nosey Keilim" נושאי כלים - including the Ta"z, Magen Avraham, and Sha"ch. Other secondary commentaries help to explain the Nosey Keilim (such as the Machatzit Hashekel, and Pri Megadim), and so on, with many layers of explanation to how the halacha is derived.
