Eim HaBanim Semeichah was written by Rabbi Yissachar Shlomo Teichtal (1885–1945), rav of Pishtian in Slovakia and the author of the teshuvot Mishneh Sachir, in Budapest during world war II, after he had fled there; it was printed there in 1943. Before the war he had stood with those who opposed the Zionist movement and the building of the land in his day; in this sefer he writes openly that he has come to see the matter differently. From the Gemara, the midrashim and the words of earlier gedolim he argues that the geulah comes through Am Yisrael returning to Eretz Yisrael and building it, that the obligation rests on every Jew, and that achdut among Jews is a condition for it. All of the sources quoted in the sefer are drawn from his encyclopedic memory. He was martyred by the Nazis HY"D in the holocaust. His conclusions are disputed among gedolei Yisrael, and the sefer is learned to this day.
