About the Talmud Yerushalmi on TorahSages

39 masechtot · 292 perakim

The Talmud Yerushalmi is the Gemara of the Amoraim of Eretz Yisrael on the Mishnah — the learning of the batei midrash of Teveria, Tzippori and Kisarin, brought to a close around the year 400 CE, a century and more before the Bavli. It covers thirty-nine masechtot: all of Zeraim, whose agricultural halachot were lived in Eretz Yisrael and weren't included in the Bavli; Moed, Nashim and Nezikin; and Niddah. It is terse whereas the Bavli is expansive, and it is cited not by daf but by perek and halacha. Where the two Talmudim differ the halacha follows the Bavli, which was sealed later than the Yerushalmi. The (Rishonim) Rif, the Rambam and the Rosh draw on the Yerushalmi constantly, and many sugyot (issues) would be difficult to understand without it.

TorahSages includes the Yerushalmi in full, with the Mishnah of each halacha set at its head and the text pointed with nikud.
