About the Terumat HaDeshen on TorahSages
2 chelakim · 621 simanim
The Terumat HaDeshen is the teshuvot of Rabbi Yisrael Isserlein (c. 1390–1460), the leading posek of Ashkenaz in his generation. It is in two parts: the first has 354 teshuvot — the gematria of the word deshen — many of them questions he framed himself in order to teach the halacha through them; the second, the Pesakim u-Chetavim, has the rulings and letters he sent in answer to questions put to him. The Rema drew on it throughout his Darchei Moshe and his hagahot on the Shulchan Aruch, so many rulings of the Rema that Ashkenazim follow today go back to the Terumat HaDeshen.
TorahSages has the Terumat HaDeshen in both parts: the 354 simanim of the teshuvot and the 267 simanim of the Pesakim u-Chetavim.
