Biography
Rav Abraham ben Mordecai Galante (niftar before 5349/1589), Rav Avraham Galante, was a mekubal born in Rome at the start of the sixteenth century. Like his father Rav Mordechai and his brother Rav Moshe Galante of Tzfat, he was described by those who knew him as a man of lofty character who lived a life of kedusha. A man of means, he raised over the kever of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai at Meron the splendid structure that is admired to this day.
His sefarim include Kinat Setarim, a commentary on Eicha built upon the Zohar, which his son Shmuel published in the collection Kol Bochim (Venice, 5349/1589); Yerach Yakar, a commentary on the Zohar, whose first part, on Bereishit, Rav Avraham Azulai abridged and set into his Zohorei Chama; and Zechut Avot on Pirkei Avot, cited by Chananya of Monselice in his commentary on Perek Shira. Halachic rulings of his survive in manuscript. He was also a tireless copyist of kabbalistic works, among them the Pardes Rimonim of Rav Moshe Cordovero.

Abraham ben Mordecai Galante was an Italian kabbalist born in Rome at the beginning of the 16th century. Abraham, like his father Mordecai and his brother Moses of Safed, is represented by his contemporaries as a man of high character who led a holy life. Being wealthy, he erected a splendid mausoleum over the tomb of Simon ben Yoḥai at Meron, which is still admired.
