Rabbi Abba bar Pappa was an amora. He appears in the Talmud as a link in a chain of teachings, bringing rulings in the name of other sages.

In tractate Bava Kamma he is found at the center of a complex chain of citation involving several scholars who share the name bar Pappa — among them Rabbi Acha bar Pappa, Rabbi Adda bar Pappa, Rabbi Chiya bar Pappa, and Rabbi Chanina bar Pappa. The Talmud preserves more than one version of how the names in this chain are ordered, which the sages summarized with a mnemonic to keep the sequence straight.
