רבי חנינא איש אונו

Rabbi Chanina Ish Ono was a tanna, known by the name of his town, Ono. In the sources before us he appears in connection with the laws of writing and delivering a get (a bill of divorce).

In Gittin (66b) he brings a halachah that he raised up from the prison house, stating, “I have a received tradition concerning one who says to three people, ‘Give a get to my wife,’ that they may instruct others to write it, because he has made them a court.” This ruling is reflected in the Mishnah in Gittin, which distinguishes between one who tells two people or three people to write and give a get themselves, and one who tells three people to give a get to his wife — in the latter case they may tell others to write it, since he has constituted them as a court.
