רבי יוסי בר יהודה איש כפר הבבלי

Rabbi Yosi bar Yehuda of Kfar HaBavli was a tanna whose teaching is preserved in Pirkei Avot. There he reflects on the nature of learning, comparing one who studies Torah from the young to one who studies from the old, set alongside the parallel teaching of Elisha ben Avuyah (who became “Acher” as he left the faith) likening the young learner to ink written on fresh paper and the older learner to ink written on erased paper.
