רבי יוסי בן דורמסקית

Rabbi Yosi ben Dormaskis was a tanna whose teachings are preserved in the halachic midrash, the aggadic midrashim, and the Talmud. In the Mechilta on Beshalach he explains the measure-for-measure judgment of the generation of the flood: because they fixed their gaze on the upper realm to bring it down to the lower, Hashem opened against them springs from above and below to destroy them.

In Megillah he holds that the Megillah of Esther was said with ruach hakodesh, deriving this from the verse “and on the spoil they did not lay their hand” (Esther 9:10). He thus stands among the tannaim, alongside Rabbi Meir, who taught that the book of Esther was composed through divine inspiration.
