Biography
Rav Dimi bar Yosef was an amora whose teachings appear in several tractates of the Talmud. He often brings the rulings of earlier authorities — citing Rav, Rabbi Elazar, and questioning Rav Nachman — across matters of berachot, kashrut, and monetary law.
In Berachot he brings in the name of Rav the case of three who ate together and one of whom went out to the marketplace, teaching that they call him back and include him in the zimun; Abaye adds that this applies when they call him and he answers. In Chullin he asks Rav Nachman about one who tells his agent to go and slaughter and then finds the animal already slaughtered, drawing the distinction between presuming the act of slaughter was done and presuming terumah was separated. In Bava Batra he cites Rabbi Elazar on whether movable property serves as a residual reservation against a slave versus against the kesubah, on one who finds a mansion among the property of a convert and acquires it through plastering or decorating, and he brings Rav Nachman on the calendrical reckoning of the day the generation of the wilderness ceased to die.
