רב הונא הכהן

Rav Huna HaKohen was an amora. In the surviving material he appears bringing aggadic teachings in the name of Rabbi Acha, drawing out the meaning of Scripture rather than debating points of law.

One such teaching expounds the words of the prophet Yirmeyahu, who urged the people to place their necks under the king of Babylon and serve him, set against the false prophet Chananyah ben Azur, who prophesied favorably. Through this contrast Rav Huna HaKohen reflects on the trials of true prophecy and the dangers posed by those who speak falsely in the name of prophecy.
