Biography
Rav Shimi of Chozna was an amora, known from a small number of statements brought in the Gemara. He appears in tractate Makkot, where he addresses a difficulty concerning a case that would otherwise fall under the principle that one liable to the more severe punishment is exempt from the lesser, explaining the matter through a case where the woman had accepted kiddushin from another.
He is also cited in tractate Pesachim, where he explains a teaching about the cosmetic preparation used by the daughters of the wealthy, noting that they would leave over part of it for the benefit of the daughters of the poor.
