רב יוסף בר אמי

Rav Yosef bar Ami was an amora whose teachings appear in a few discussions of the Talmud. In tractate Zevachim he is brought raising a difficulty comparing a change in the consecrated offering with a change in the owners, and he resolves it — engaging with the fine distinctions in the laws of sacrifices.

In tractate Kiddushin he weighs in on a question of conditional betrothal, explaining that a single reason underlies the matter: he reads a stipulation that a betrothal depends on the father’s approval as meaning that the father may not object within thirty days. These citations show him at work on both the order of Kodashim and the laws of betrothal.
