רב יוסף בריה דרבי יהושע בן לוי

Rav Yosef brei d’Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi was an amora, the son of Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi. In the recorded material he appears asking his father a question of halachah, reflecting the close exchange between them.

In tractate Chullin he inquires of his father about a case in the laws of treifot — where the liver turned greenish over the area of the innards — and whether the animal is rendered treifah. His father rules that it is treifah. The discussion is taken up further by Rava, who explains that such a condition shows the animal had fallen into fire and its innards were scorched, making it treifah.
