הרב שמעון בן נתנאל

Rabbi Shimon ben Netanel was a tanna, listed in Pirkei Avot among the five outstanding students of Rabban Yochanan ben Zakkai. In that passage Rabban Yochanan characterizes each of his five disciples by a defining virtue, and Shimon ben Netanel is singled out as one who fears sin.

He belongs to the chain of those who received and taught the wisdom of the Torah, the masters of the Mishnah and the baraitot, and his place in the Avot tradition preserves his standing among the leading students of his generation.
