Aliyah 1 — Genesis 12:1-12:13
עלייה 1 — בראשית 12:1-12:13Hashem tells Avram to leave his land. He gives him 5 tests, each of increasingly more commitment required to successfully fulfill. He travels to Canaan with Sarai and Lot. Famine forces them to Egypt, where Avram asks Sarai to say she is his sister.
Aliyah 2 — Genesis 12:14-13:4
עלייה 2 — בראשית 12:14-13:4Sarai is taken to Pharaoh's house and Hashem afflicts Pharaoh's household. Avram leaves Egypt with great wealth and returns to the altar at Beit El.
Aliyah 3 — Genesis 13:5-13:18
עלייה 3 — בראשית 13:5-13:18Avram's and Lot's shepherds quarrel and the two part, Lot choosing Sedom. Hashem promises Avram the whole land and descendants like the dust of the earth.
