הרב בן הא הא

Ben He He was a tanna whose teaching is preserved in Pirkei Avot. He is known for the brief maxim, “Lefum tza’ara agra” — the reward is according to the effort, teaching that the value of one’s spiritual labor corresponds to the difficulty and exertion invested in it. He is associated with Ben Bag Bag, possibly the same person. Tradition says he was a convert who had been influenced by Hillel hazaken.
