רבי יצחק עטושיא

Rav Yitzchak Atushya — found in some girsaot as Rav Yitzchak of Kfar Itush — was an amora of Eretz Yisrael in the third and fourth generations, at the close of the third century and the beginning of the fourth. His name is understood to come from his place of origin, the village of Atush, identified today with Khirbet Atusha on the slopes of the Yavne’el valley in the Lower Galil. He asked of Reish Lakish, and he was a talmid of Rav Zeira, before whom he said a teaching in the name of the house of Rav Yannai concerning raw lupines and their use for an eruv; one view holds that he was also a talmid of Rav Yirmiyah. He appears several times in Seder Nashim, in exchanges in which Rav Zeira taught him and he raised his difficulty. His son Rav Chiya was likewise a talmid chacham.
