Biography
Rabbi Yitzchak of Corbeil, known by the name of his work as the Semak, was a rishon of France and the author of Sefer Mitzvot Katan, an abridgement of the Sefer Mitzvot Gadol of Rabbi Moshe of Coucy. To the halachic material of the larger work he added matters of mussar and aggadah.
The sefer was printed together with the notes of Rabbeinu Peretz, which in many places became mixed into the body of the text itself, and with the extensive notes of Rabbi Moshe of Zurich, known as the Semak of Zurich.
Where traditions differ. This biography is written from material brought about the Semak within the sources on the Smag; the general sources retrieved under the name Semak proved to be about unrelated subjects entirely and were not used.
